Part- or fully-qualified European Patent Attorney with a commercial approach to IP
To meet the increasing demand of our growing business, in particular with respect to European patent matters and post-grant activities such as litigation proceedings, Ström & Gulliksson is now looking for a talented patent attorney to join our team in Stockholm.
The Firm
Ström & Gulliksson is a top tier patent firm located in Sweden. We handle a variety of domestic and international patent matters, in particular at the European Patent Office. Our practice involves protecting our clients’ interests, from the early stages of innovation through to asserting and defending rights in court proceedings. We have a young and dynamic team and represent well-known organisations such as Spotify, IKEA and Rolls Royce.
Ström & Gulliksson is passionate about intellectual property. Our approach is thorough yet prompt, and we aim to give our clients the most relevant commercial advice, be they a multinational corporation or an individual inventor. We consider each assignment individually with specific conditions and requirements to be resolved to meet our clients’ needs. We are considered as a top-tier firm by a number of industry rankings, such as those from Managing IP and Intellectual Asset Management. For example, the IAM Patent 1000 describes our service as being “delivered to the highest possible standard” and our attorneys as being “reliable, helpful and always looking to find the most budget-friendly solutions for their clients.”
Our Stockholm office was established in 2006 and has grown significantly in recent years. Stockholm is the largest city in Scandinavia and is one of the most vibrant and innovative cities in the world. Our office is based in the Östermalm district just to the east of the town centre, surrounded by elegant bars and restaurants, and near the Djurgården royal park and the bustling waterfront street of Strandvägen.
The Role
You will be responsible for drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications at the Swedish and European patent offices, as well as being involved in opposition and appeal proceedings and giving advice on various IP matters to clients. Furthermore, through our affiliation with the law firm Gulliksson, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of skilled lawyers on important contentious matters, such as litigation and validity proceedings. We offer various benefits, including agile working and attractive pension and insurance packages.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious candidate to join a thriving team and to develop your career working for the world’s most innovative companies alongside some of Europe’s finest patent attorneys.
The Candidate
You must be a part- or fully-qualified European Patent Attorney with at least 3 years of experience from private practice. Ideally, you should have a technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering and have experience handling patent matters involving computer-implemented inventions. You should also be able to balance the technical side of the job with the commercial reasoning that is required by our clients, as well as having excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
As a person, you should be proactive and self-motivated with a strong drive to provide the absolute best service to your clients. We are looking for a true team player with good interpersonal skills. You should be ambitious and keen to develop both your own practice and the firm’s interests.
