Working Long-Term with Innovation, Trust and Strategy

With a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from LTH and studies at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), I applied to Ström & Gulliksson’s trainee program once I truly understood what the role of a patent attorney entails. The combination of technology, language and law aligned well with both my interests and my strengths. So far, my experience as a trainee at Ström & Gulliksson has exceeded expectations. The pace is high but well balanced, and responsibilities increase gradually as knowledge deepens. From the outset, we work on real cases with strong support and guidance, and over time take on more complex tasks. Having the opportunity to meet clients early in the role is both motivating and rewarding.

What I particularly appreciate is the problem-solving aspect of the work. Handling office actions means diving deep into the technology, understanding objections and strategically identifying solutions – something I find both challenging and stimulating. I also greatly enjoy the linguistic dimension of the profession and study German in my spare time. The strong connection between patent practice and the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich was therefore another factor that attracted me to the field.

Another appealing aspect is the international perspective and the breadth of assignments. We work with companies across different industries and at varying stages of development, which requires both flexibility and the ability to tailor strategies to each specific situation. In the long term, I look forward to having my own clients and building lasting relationships. The patent profession is characterized by long-term thinking and trust. To me, the work is about providing realistic advice and, together with the client, developing a tailored patent strategy that supports their business over time. A long-term goal of mine is to qualify as a European Patent Attorney.
