Commercially valuable IP
It is my view that intellectual property should be a cornerstone of any successful business and, in particular, development of IP that is relevant to the particular commercial goals of the business. To enable this, I aim to build a close relationship with each of my clients that lets me see through their eyes, and ensure they feel I am part of the team and not just an outside counsel.
Practical advice with an international perspective
With my experience working with a large range of companies, from start-ups to multinational corporations, I am able to clearly guide my clients through the patenting process in a strategic manner tailored to their specific experience and commercial situation. My practice in both Europe and the UK helps me provide practical advice with an international perspective, to help add value to my clients’ businesses. I take great pleasure in being able to see how patents can affect my clients’ businesses in a positive way.
I have significant experience in all stages of the patent process, from pre-filing and freedom to operate analyses, through drafting and prosecution, to contentious proceedings. I have a successful record at various levels of the European patent system, including oral proceedings, oppositions, and appeals at different patent authorities. I am also a registered European Patent Litigator at the UPC, and have been recognised as a Rising Star by MIP for six years running.
Outside of my case work, I have a keen interest in the development of the IP profession. I am a member of SEPAF’s AI committee as well as a pan-European group of attorneys exploring the suitability of AI-based tools for implementation in various areas of patent practice. I have also been involved in industry-wide work regarding subjects such as the UPC and the doctrine of equivalents.
Technical expertise
My main field of specialisation is computer-implemented inventions, including artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT), and I also have vast experience in aerospace and automotive technology. These are areas of constant innovation that excite me and continue to contribute to our daily lives. My practice has however covered a broad range of technologies, including mechanical systems, audio technology, logistics, and green tech.
