PRIOR EMPLOYMENT

Swedish Intellectual Property Office

Customer trust and a thorough understanding of the product development process are essential.

My key motivations as a patent consultant include quickly grasping new technology, discerning the essence of an invention, and drafting an application to maximize the chances of robust patent protection. I am also acutely aware of the importance of addressing any weaknesses in a patent and finding the right phrasing to persuade examiners, as well as laying a foundation to prevent future patent disputes.

In my five years of experience as an examiner at the Swedish Intellectual Property Office, PRV, I developed a great understanding of how to grasp the inventive idea behind each application quickly, especially in the fields of mechanics and computer-implemented inventions. This role involved determining whether applications met the criteria for patentability, for both national and international (Patent Cooperation Treaty) applications.

Prior to this, I gained valuable work experience at Scania as a designer, where I served in both consultant and permanent positions. This gave me expertise in the automotive industry and also a comprehensive understanding of product development processes in general and meeting customer requirements.

For me, the role of a patent consultant offers an incredible opportunity to work closely with inventors and their inventions. The combination of technology, language, and client interaction is both challenging and stimulating.

I value the close collaboration with clients and the teamwork required to identify the commercial benefit of each patent application. My goal is to bring the insights I gained as an examiner at PRV to the attorney side of the industry.

I am committed to creating patent rights that are both practical and provide long-term value. I consider the strategic aspect of this process as crucial as drafting the application itself.

Understanding clients’ business models and integrating these into patent strategies lays a solid foundation for success.
